A Bit About Me

Matt Roberson, an enrolled member of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes, brings a rich legacy of leadership and achievement to his endeavors. Graduating from Anadarko High School in 2000, he distinguished himself as a Class 4A All-State football player and Powerlifting State Champion. Continuing his athletic journey, Matt played football at The University of Central Oklahoma.

 Rooted in a family deeply embedded in tribal leadership, Matt's maternal grandfather, Lewis Zadoka, served as the first elected President of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes, while his mother, Rose Roberson, holds the esteemed position of Superintendent for the Bureau of Indian Affairs – Anadarko Agency. His maternal great-grandfather, Fred Carruth who alongside John Tatum was named as a Wichita Delegate to the 1898 Indian Congress in Omaha, Nebraska. Matt’s father, Mike is retired from Western Farmers Electric Cooperative and resides with Rose in Anadarko. Matt’s beautiful and talented daughter, Phoenix Rose, attends Edmond Public Schools in Edmond, Oklahoma. Matt’s paternal grandparents are the late Dr. Arvin and Nancy Roberson. His maternal grandparents are the late, Lewis and Helen Zadoka.

Currently, Matt serves as the Executive Director for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, Department of Athletic Regulation, overseeing its operations with a commitment to excellence. He also holds pivotal roles in various organizations, including Executive Officer and Region 6 Director for the North American Indigenous Games Council, and as a Management Representative for Quivera Enterprises, Wichita Tribal Enterprises, Wichita Government Solutions, and Iscani Industries.

 With a track record of impactful leadership, Matt previously held elected positions, including serving on the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes Executive Committee and as the Southern Plains Regional Vice-President-Alternate for the National Congress of American Indians. Additionally, he led The Association of Combative Sports Commissions as President for two terms, fostering collaboration and championing opportunities for others.

 Under Matt's guidance, the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe Department of Athletic Regulation received many accolades, including being named the 2017 Organization of The Year by the Minnesota Boxing Hall of Fame. Noteworthy events organized under his leadership include the First Annual "Meeting of The Clans," an All-Indigenous Amateur Boxing World Championship in 2022.

 Matt's contributions have been recognized nationally, receiving prestigious honors such as The National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development's "40 under 40 Award" in 2017 and induction into the North American Indigenous Athletics Hall of Fame in the Builder category in 2023 for his unwavering support of Native Americans in Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts, along with his work with Team Mni-Sota and The North American Indigenous Games.

 Continuing his commitment to personal and professional growth, Matt completed the American Express Converge Social Justice Leadership fellowship through the American Express Leadership Academy in 2022, following his selection as an American Express NGEN Fellow in 2018. He is also a graduate of St. Cloud State University’s Casino Leadership Program in 2017, showcasing his dedication to lifelong learning and community empowerment.

The supreme governing body of the Tribe shall be  the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes Council. The  membership of the Council shall be all the members of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes, male and female who are 18 years old or older.

Things to Remember

​

  • Must have submitted the Absentee Voter Registration Application (If you did not receive one in the mail please let someone know!)

​

  • Must be mailed by Certified ​

​

  • Deadline was June 7th

​

  • Absentee Ballot Form should be mailed soon.

This Ordinance shall govern all elections of the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes (Wichita, Keechi, Waco, and Tawakoni) to ensure fair and equitable mechanisms are utilized in all Wichita tribal elections and that all elections uphold the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes Governing Resolution.
